Thank you Hotel Sorella for sponsoring this post! We had a wonderful stay.
Hotel Sorella located on the Country Club Plaza is a true source of luxury, excitement, and fun. It seriously seems like walking into a new world far from Kansas City. From the moment I walked through the doors I was blown away. First of all the staff was super friendly and went out of the way to make sure every customer was taken care of quickly and efficiently.
Hotel Sorella has a blend of modern and classic charm. The decor is to die for; beautiful art, plants, sculptures, and furniture are displayed throughout the hotel. The lobby has a huge chandelier, marble floors, and mosaic tile with a pattern that is mocked throughout the hotel.
I visited Hotel Sorella to experience the Valentines Day Romance Package. The package includes:
Luxury accommodations for two
A bottle of sparkling wine
Gourmet chocolates from Andrés Confiserie Suisse
$50 room service credit
Complimentary European Breakfast in Francesca’s Lounge
Rates start at $219 a night. Rosso has its new winter menu available and will be featuring two special desserts just for Valentine’s Day. A rich and decadent smoked raspberry chipotle ganache with a floral meringue cookie and dark chocolate cremeaux. Also, the pastry chef created a refreshing blood orange semi-freddo with citrus glaze, raspberry violet rose meringue and citrus gels.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Presidential Suite. OMG ya’ll it was an ultra luxurious experience. When I walked into the room my breath was taken away. The room was sleek, and modern. It had a King sized bed, a work area, a small chaise sofa to lounge on, and a closet with bathrobes for me and my boyfriend..
Inside of the room was a huge bathroom with a marble vanity, leather chair and table, toilet area, and luxurious bathtub. The bathroom also had a standup shower with a perfectly designed tile floor, and a glass door that kept the space airy and bright. A shower head was positioned in the middle of the shower on the ceiling and fell like a waterfall and another shower head was positioned on the wall and could be manually held.
There was a dining room area, and a kitchenette area. The room has a 10 ft couch, huge ottoman, flat screen television and the most beautiful fireplace I’ve laid eyes on (we hung out by the fireplace the entire night). The outdoor deck and patio has a dining area, an area to lounge, and a sun bathing area.
We had dinner at Rosso, the rooftop in-house restaurant located at Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza. Dinner at Rosso is an experience everyone needs to have. Our waiter gave exceptional service, he helped us choose the best meals that we’d both enjoy. We started our meal with a Rosso Caesar Salad, which is California Artisan Romaine, Parmesan Encrusted Poached Egg, White Anchovy, Lemon Zest Croutons, and Cold Pressed Olive Oil.
For dinner I ordered the Creekstone Farms Beef Filet, which is a Grilled Kansas Filet Mignon, with a Brandy Demi Glaze, Cipollini Onions, Asparagus, and Fontina Potato Gratin. My boyfriend opted to try several small plates. He got Drunken Meatballs, which is Tuscan-style Meatballs, with Chianti Red Sauce, Polenta, and Grana Padano. Ravioli Florentine ai Frutti di Mare, which is Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli, with Jumbo Lump Blue Crab, Lobster-Fennel Cream, and Roasted Red Pepper. Pasta de Sorella, which is Penne, Seasonal Mushrooms, Shrimp, Prosciutto di Parma, with Roasted Peppers, and Parmesan Carbonara Sauce. The meal was absolutely delicious, I ate every last bite. My boyfriend was so stuffed he ended up taking some back to the room.
A stay at Hotel Sorella includes a continental breakfast at Francesca’s, but we opted for breakfast in our room. We filled out an order form, chose what time we wanted our breakfast to come, and left it on the door before we went to sleep. The next morning, promptly at 9:30 am room service knocked on the door and brought in a tray full of goodies. I had buttermilk pancakes topped with fresh fruit and pure maple syrup. My boyfriend had a customized ham, spinach, and cheese omelette with toast, and potatoes. We also had orange juice, apple juice, and a yogurt parfait.
I absolutely loved my experience at Hotel Sorella Country Club Plaza. My only complaint is the pool is small (and it sucks we live in the midwest so we couldn’t swim), but other than that I had a blast. The atmosphere was great, the staff friendly, and the room was very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious weekend getaway. I see myself coming back! (stay tuned, I’m creating a video of our room, it was fabulous.)
