I’ll be honest this summer has been flying by way too fast for me. It seems like only yesterday I graduated college, and now I really have to start job searching.
So far this summer I’ve been doing a bunch of nothing…j/k. I’ve been taking a Spanish class, walking my dog, getting to know my neighbors (um…after living here over a year I figured it’s time), and lounging around the house sipping on my favorite kooling off summer drink.
Now, the beverage I make is nothing fancy, it’s affordable, takes about 2 minutes to make, and has just three simple ingredients.
- Tropical Punch Kool-Aid Ready-To-Drink 96oz Bottle
- Kool-Aid Lemon or Lemon Lime dry packet
- 6 oz Sweetened Pineapple Juice
Whenever I feel ready to have my favorite summer drink, or make a pitcher for my friends, I head to Walmart to get my supplies.
The 96oz Kool-Aid Ready-to-Drink bottles, Kool-Aid dry packet, and the 6 oz can of pineapple juice can all be found in the juice aisle.
As children we drank Kool-Aid, no matter whose house we were over. The only set back for me was, I couldn’t make it…Yes, (black girl growing up in the hood couldn’t make Kool-Aid) lol.
I know the secret is using one packet of any flavor and a lemon packet, but for some reason I always put too much sugar, or not enough.
With the New Kool-Aid 96 oz bottles I don’t have to worry about my ‘Kool-Aid making woes’. It’s already perfectly made; all I have to do is grab a cup.
For my summer drink I simply pour chilled Kool-Aid juice into a glass or pitcher, and stir in a pinch of the dry lemon mixture (if it’s a pitcher I pour the entire packet in). After stirring in the dry lemon mixture, I add ice to the glass and pour in half a can of pineapple juice (if it’s a pitcher I use an entire can or two).
Thats it! Done.
The Kool-Aid is sweet, the lemon flavor from the packet adds a bit of tart, and the pineapple juice balances it all out. I’m telling you it’s delicious.
I added fresh fruit garnishments on a bamboo stick to enjoy along with my drink.
Remember I told you I’ve been lounging around the house…Well today I decided to lounge around outside while sipping on my summer drink.
Why? idk, I guess the sun rays were calling my name.
While sitting in the shade sipping on my juice, I got some Spanish studying done, I said hello to the mailman, I spoke to the guy next door who I see everyday, but never speak to, I let my dog play with the dog down the street, and I took some selfies.
My neighbor even sat on the stairs and enjoyed a nice cold glass of Kool-Aid with me.
Well..today was a good day. Now I have to get ready for more Spanish studying (eek, I have to pass this class)!
Let me know if you try the recipe. I can’t wait to hear your responses, oh also…
Did you know???
Jim Dillard, pro fisherman, could be coming to your local Walmart to help promote the new 96oz Kool-Aid bottles! Hmmm…sounds fun to me.
There will also be product giveaways, t-shirts, games, and more fun activities!
