Free Dental Care for Veterans?
As most of you know I’m a Veteran.
One way I save money on dental is by getting my teeth cleaned at my local dental hygiene school.
Getting your dental work done at a dental hygiene school is a great option for anyone wanting to save money. The only catch is, the cleanings, and dental service is performed by the students.
But let me tell you, they are great (most of them are). The students have to go through a series of extensive training before they are able to work with patients, and the hours spent working on patients help towards their experience hours that count for graduation. Plus, the students are under close supervision of real dentists, and faculty during the entire visit.
Well, now all of that is out of the way. I recently (the other day) went in to get my teeth cleaned and during the cleaning the dentist (they double check all work done) asked me where my wisdom teeth were pulled. I told her I had them pulled when I was deployed and she said, “Wow, you’re a Veteran? Thank you for your service. The services provided today and the rest of your dental work is free.”
Whoa, did she say FREE?
I discovered Concorde Career College is a proud participant of the “Yellow Ribbon Program,” and they provide Veterans with many FREE dental services for a year, along with the same services for immediate family members such as spouses, and children, for just $5.00 per service.
Free Dental services include:
- Dental Cleanings
- Comprehensive exam by a dentist
- Periodontal cleaning (deep cleanings)
- Sports guards
- Fluoride treatments
*Here are a few quick notes*
You must make an appointment.
For Veterans, you must bring proof that you’re a Vet.
If you make an appointment make sure you have plenty of time available. Each visit is usually longer than a traditional dentist office visit.
As I mentioned, the services are done by students, which means everything they do has to be double checked twice by faculty and a dentist. I don’t mind, I know everything will be exceptional because they get graded.
The Kansas City location is at 3217 Broadway, Suite 500, Kansas City, MO 64111. The phone number to make an appointment is 816-595-2079.
