In the middle of the Santana Row shopping district is beautiful Hotel Valencia Santana Row, the only hotel in the area. Walking into the hotel feels like you’ve escaped away on a European vacation, but the reality is, you haven’t left California.
I read reviews before going, but the entire area was breathtaking when I arrived. Ok, you have to keep in mind I’m from the midwest, so palm trees and scenic routes are not the normal for me.
Hotel Valencia Santana Row is within strolling distance of every major shopping store that you want to visit. Kate Spade was literally next door to the hotel and Vera Bradley across the street.
The hotel has 215 luxury rooms, free wifi for all rooms and public spaces, valet parking, a fitness center, dry cleaning service, 24 hour room service, robes (yes robes), and more.
The room featured a customized king sized bed, 300 thread count Egyptian linens and accessories by Hotel Valencia. The room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable, we didn’t even want to get up. I’m serious the bed was extremely comfortable.
Our room also had a balcony that gave us a view of some of the shopping areas, and stunning views of the mountains in San Jose.
The pool area looked like it came directly out of the pages of a European magazine. We woke up early around 8 am and went down to the pool. We lounged on the deck, drank fruit infused water (that was provided at the pool), and sat in the hot tub.
The entire area has a spa-like feel to it. We sat up there a few hours, went back to the room, took a nap, and walked around the shopping area when we awoke.
One thing I noticed and gave a “thumbs up” to is, the pool area has handicap accessible equipment to help those who can’t enter the pool by themselves. Another perk is the outdoor pool and hot tub at Hotel Valencia Santana Row is open year round.
We had dinner at Citrus, one of the restaurants located at the hotel. Citrus offers the best local produce and sustainable meat and seafood in accordance with the Monterey Seafood Watch program.
We decided to eat our dinner at the Terrace instead of in the restaurant because we were already in the area (we had drinks and appetizers earlier and were still sitting there). The area was very intimate. There was cute tables, string lights were lit and the lights dimmed (very romantic). The atmosphere was comfortable and the weather was just right (not too hot, not too cold).
Dinner was absolutely delicious, and our waiter provided phenomenal service.
I had the grilled ribeye, za’atar, squid rings, red sauce and green bean salad.
My boyfriend had Alaskan king crab legs with valencia paella, shrimp, scallops, and chorizo. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection.
Citrus also serves up a complimentary American breakfast buffet daily.
Hotel Valencia Santana Row is definitely a place to visit if you want to get away, especially for a romantic getaway. My only complaint is the hotel staff service is a little slow.
The hotel is right in the middle of shopping, there are various restaurants and eateries, and plenty of areas to sit and people watch. I see myself coming back again.
For my savers:
The hotel is pretty expensive with rates in the $$ numbers, so it’s not budget friendly (for those of us on a strict budget), but here are a few ways to save.
Hotel Valencia has a variety of hotel specials and vacation packages.

Remember it’s ok to splurge every once in awhile if you have it. We’ve been wanting to go on a getaway for awhile now, so this trip came right in time.
