5 Household Items to Invest In While Becoming an “Adultier” Adult

5-household-items-to-invest-in-while-becoming-an-adultier-adult

As I grow older I realize a lot of the household items (mostly kitchen items) I’ve had just don’t cut it for me anymore. I’m slowly becoming, like, a real adult. I mean I’ve been an adult but I’m starting to enjoy (and look forward to) things like coming home from work, hopping in pajamas and watching Netflix all night, or coming home and cooking a homemade delicious dinner and eating at the dinning room table (matter-of-fact me and my boyfriend eat dinner together at the table nightly). It’s more instances, but you get the jest.

There are a lot of items I want to purchase (and that I’ve been purchasing) for my improved “adulting” atmosphere apartment, but some of those items are pricy. Well as I always say…I’m Ericka Saves, so of course I had to find a way to save on those big investment items that last forever. With eBay Daily Deals you can always find deals that are a steal.

Every day eBay Daily Deals feature items from trusted sellers who are offering deep discounts on a variety of items (usually between 20% and 90% off) and free shipping. There are limited quantities of these fixed-price items, so they don’t last long. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

I came up with my top items that I believe everyone on this adulting journey should invest in, and eBay Daily Deals has deals on every item on the list:

1. A Nice Set of Professional Cookware

I was one of those people who would drop $40 at the store for a set of generic, basic, non-efficient pots and pans and after a year or two would have to replace them. When becoming an adult you realize that it’s better to drop the money and invest in a nice quality set of professional cookware. You’d be amazed at how your whole cooking experience changes when cooking with quality items. Like, forreal, your food taste better, you can cook food thoroughly faster, and the cookware lasts forever (well, way longer than the cheaper brands).

2. A Quality Set of Sharp Knives

A quality set of sharp knives is a must have. I went a long time with those little cheap knives. They were so jagged and didn’t cut anything well. They messed up the flow of dinner trying to cut a little piece of meat 15 times. Those knives had to go after I almost chopped my finger off on Thanksgiving (I’ll be sharing that story with you one day).Having a quality set of knives also helps make meal preparation easier because you’re able to easily cut and chop ingredients for your meals.

3. Blender

Everyone needs a blender. Preferably, the more upscale quality blenders. Investing in a quality, pricy blender is a decision each person has to realistically think about. But, when you decide to make that investment it quickly pays off. Depending on they type of  blender you get, you’re able to make smoothies, juices, ice creams, fillings for pies, and more. The nice blenders last a long time, especially if you take care of them.

4. Slow cooker

I told you everyone needs a blender…well everyone also needs a slow cooker. It does exactly what the name says…cooks food slowly. Having a slow cooker will change your life. If you’ve had a hard time getting meals on the table when you work daily, then having a slow cooker will be beneficial to you. There are all kinds of recipes for slow cookers and I’m looking forward to trying even more recipes. With the slow cooker you just put the food, seasonings etc. and more in the pot. Cover it with the lid and let it cook. My favorite slow cookers are the ones with automatic timers. Those cost a little more, but help you prevent burning your food. For me it’s worth the investment because I work all day M-F. I just put my ingredients in the pot and set the temp on low. By the time I get home from work dinner is ready.

5. Dutch Oven

Ok, now this one is just for show. I mean, if you own a dutch oven, you really have a grip on this whole adulting thing. Owning a dutch oven has been on my list of “things to own” for a long time. I’m a huge fan of all of the cooking shows and they all prepare delicious meals in dutch ovens. I’ve seen soups, sauces, cakes, casseroles, and more prepared in dutch ovens. Unfortunately, dutch ovens are expensive, but with eBay daily deals you can score one for the fraction of the original price.
